The following standard tools are required for proper installation:

• Hacksaw or reciprocating saw (to cut PVC return line)

• PVC primer and PVC glue (for secure tee installation)

• Teflon tape (only if threading is required; ionizer cell seals with an O-ring)

• Measuring tape and marker (for accurate placement)

• Screwdrivers (for mounting the controller)

Recommended Testing Supplies

Maintaining balanced water ensures peak ionizer performance:

• Copper Test Strips or Copper Test Kit

  • Ideal copper level: 0.2 – 0.4 ppm

• Standard Pool Water Test Kit

  • Total Alkalinity: 80 – 120 ppm

Ionizer vs Mineral Purifier

While both systems use copper and silver:

• Ionizers use electricity to release ions and require electrode replacement every 1–3 seasons

Important Water Care Note

Do not use sequestering agents with ionizers, as they can remove beneficial ions from the water. If your source water contains high iron or calcium levels, treat the water before filling using a hose-mounted metal trap filter.
